“Skoonj”, the “Reading Rifle” or just Carl, this guy could do it all. A star player that finished his 15 year career one hit shy of .300. A batting champion, elite slugger with an unusually strong throwing arm, he was a quiet “heart and soul” type of player that had a huge impact on Brooklyn’s best ballclubs. Carl was exclusive with Bowman prior to 1954, so this is what I figure he would have looked like on a ‘53.
