Over the years, I have heard collectors rave about the ‘62 Mantle but, overall, I always found it a bit ordinary. Coming off of such a historic season, Roger Maris’ card was a stunner. Everyone knows I like portrait cards and the ‘62 Mantle is a very nice card, but I wanted a bit more. This image from a 2 1/4” negative is from the summer of that magnificent year.

The card is sharp with beautiful gloss and vintage color. We ran 12 copies with various adjustments in lighting and color to select just 4 for sale. This is the one and only “pack-fresh” copy. Looks like it was just unearthed from a pack of ‘62 Topps ball cards. Wrapper not included.
