We made a “home” and an “away” version of The Mick for our Goudey Shoebox. In all, there were six different Mantles we tried. Three were kept. We sold one at Christmas with a red background—that one won’t sell again—so it’s a 1/1 card. The Shoebox (distressed) version of this card is coming in our Opening Day Auction on March 23, 2026. Since there are only 4 copies total, it will be a couple of years before it comes around again. This is and will be the only “pack-fresh” example of this card. The Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider cards feature big smiles from all and have great energy to them.

This is a fabulous rookie-era image of Mickey; one of my favorites. The pastel blue worked and really made him pop off the card.
